Swimming Pool MaintenanceChlorine and various chemical compounds

    vikas 2010.08.25 05:33 0 0

The smell of chlorine around a pool is usually accompanied by irritation to the eyes, nose, lungs and skin of the swimmers. The pool smell is not due to chlorine but to chloramines, chemical compounds that build up in pool water when there is not enough free chlorine.

Swimming Pool MaintenanceAlgae in pools and its remedies

    vikas 2010.08.24 06:39 0 0

    1. Brush the walls and floor of the swimming pool to remove as much of the algae as possible.

    2. Ensure that the pH level is within the range of 7.2 - 7.6. This will ensure that any chlorine added will work more efficiently - high pH levels in particular will impair the efficiency of the chlorine doing its job. With the pool filter system running, add a chlorine based swimming pool shock at the rate of 1.6 kg. per 1,00,000 litres of pool water dosage for killing algae. The pool filter system should continue to run 24 hours a day.

    Swimming Pool MaintenanceWinter pool care

    vikas 2010.08.24 06:23 0 0

During the cold winter months pool water tends to stay clear with very little help. Generally algae does not appear and hardly a pool turn green. If algae growth occurs, it  is extremely slow.

Of course winterizing is ideal, but many of our pools are not winterized. To these we add an occasional dose of chlorine and run the pump at least once a week. Vacuuming requirements are negligible.

    1. Test the swimming pool water for Combined Chlorine, pH, Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness. pH and the Calcium Hardness are the main cause of cloudy pool water.

Swimming Pool MaintenanceChecking and Maintaining Swimming Pool Water Quality

    vikas 2010.08.23 08:12 0 0

    • To ensure accurate readings, replace test kit reagents annually.
    • To ensure the highest water quality, test your pool's pH and free chlorine levels daily.
    • Proper chemical usage is important for maintaining a healthy pool. Be sure to follow the chemical manufacturer's instructions closely regarding proper dosage for your size pool.
    • Add an algaecide and chlorine to your pool before covering it for the winter. It will ensure that the water is clear and algae-free when you reopen it the following season.

    Swimming Pool MaintenanceSpa sanitizers

    vikas 2010.08.19 06:02 0 0

Proper spa water maintenance requires using an effective sanitizer to control and prevent bacteria growth. No matter which sanitizing method you choose, spa water must contain a proper residual of bromine or chlorine, to keep the water safe and sanitary.

Swimming Pool MaintenanceHow much chlorine required for a swimming pool?

    vikas 2010.08.19 05:33 0 0

Since pool chlorine is available in different strengths, the type of chlorine one should choose will affect the amount required.  One's personal preferences and pool type might lead one to choosing type of pool chlorine above another.

Swimming Pool MaintenanceWhat chemicals are needed for a new swimming pool

    vikas 2010.08.18 12:45 0 0

One 'll need calcium.,muriatic acid, chlorine, chlorine tabs and a floater. One 'll also need to know how to make adjustments and the meaning of each reading.

    Step by step procedure

    • Firstly work out how much water your pool holds using this formula

    (1 cubic metre = 1000 Litres or 4.5 Litres per 1 Gallon)

    • Then Adjust your Ph Levels To a:

    Minimum of 7.2
    Optimum of 7.4
    Maximum of 7.6

so 10g per 1000 litres per day of Ph plus or minus until you get a reading of 7.4

25ml per 1000 litres for initial dose then 2ml per 1000 litres every 2 weeks.

Initial Dose of chlorine is 6Grams per 1 Cubic Metre
Then 1.8g of Chlorine per 1 cubic metre when needed

Always have filter pump in operation when adding chemicals to pool and keep it running for at least half an hour afterwards.

Swimming Pool MaintenanceSwimming Pool Chlorine Tips

    vikas 2010.08.18 12:28 0 0

    •  The least expensive and most popular form of chlorine is 3" chlorine tablets. When properly used, 3" tablets may not need attention for a week or more. one should test oner water at least once per week.

1" chlorine tablets are well suited for use in automatic chlorinators, above ground pools, small in-ground pools, and spas.

Granular chlorine is very effective, but it requires a higher level of chemical maintenance.

    • One should keep pool chlorine test levels between one to three parts per million at all times. By maintaining that level, one's pool will stay in top form throughout the swimming season.
